    • Montague Samuel was created a Baronet of Swaythling in the County of Southampton on 23 Jun 1894 and raised to the peerage as Baron Swaythling in the County of Southampton in 1907.He owned the land in Edmonton now known as Montagu Road, which was presented to the Federation of Synagogues as a burial ground.
